A New Garden — From a Single Line to an International Award

Sometimes a song doesn’t begin with a grand idea.Sometimes it begins with a single line.
A New Garden came to me quietly while I was sitting at home, tinkering on the keyboard. It started with one simple musical phrase at the very beginning of the song. That small idea felt alive, like something wanting to grow. From there, I continued building the piece using music software, layering sounds and shaping the arrangement until it felt complete.
As the song developed, an opportunity arose to collaborate with other musicians to bring the recording fully to life. Working together elevated the track in ways I could not have achieved alone. Once finished, A New Garden was released on digital platforms, ready to find its audience.
Early last year, I received an email from a professional network I belong to, inviting nominations for the Intercontinental Music Awards. I submitted A New Garden, not knowing what might come of it, simply grateful for the chance.
On 24 August 2025, during a virtual awards ceremony held via Zoom from Hollywood, Los Angeles, I received the news that A New Garden had been selected as a winner.
The official certificate recognises the recording as:
Winner for originality and performance on the recording “A New Garden” Best Song of Australasia in Australasian Urban Genre.
It was truly an honour and a privilege to receive this recognition. To have a song that began so simply.. with one quiet musical idea at home, acknowledged on an international stage is both humbling and deeply meaningful.
Although the ceremony took place in August, I received the physical certificate only recently. Life moves quickly, especially during the busy season, but the gratitude remains just as strong.
A New Garden is a reminder that creativity often begins in stillness and that small beginnings can grow into something far beyond what we imagine.
Thank you to everyone who has supported my music journey.
